Fix it Task Guide for Service Providers
Step-by-step instructions after selecting “Service Provider”
Step 1: Create Your Service Provider Account
First, click the “Sign Up” button on the homepage to get started. You’ll be taken to the registration form. Please fill out all required fields.
- User Type
- Make sure “Service Provider” is selected from the dropdown.
- If you didn’t receive the email:
- Enter a valid email address (e.g., jane.doe@example.com).
- This will be used for booking notifications and account recovery.
- First Name / Last Name
- Enter your real name to help clients trust and recognize you.
- Display Name
- This is the name that will be publicly visible on your profile.
- Example: Jane D, FixIt Pro, Mike the Plumber.
- Password
- Choose a strong password to keep your account secure.
- Phone Number
- Enter a valid phone number.
- Clients may use this to contact you for service coordination.
- Accept Terms
- Check the box to agree to the [Terms of Service] and [Privacy Policy].
- Click “Sign Up”
- Once submitted, you’ll proceed to complete your service provider profile.
Step 2: Verify Your Email Address
After signing up, you will be asked to confirm your email address. Follow these steps:
- Open the inbox of the email address you used to register.
- Find an email from: Fix It Task
Subject: "Email verification instructions for Fix It Task" - Open the email and click the blue "Verify email" button.
- If the button doesn’t work, use the full link provided below it. Note: The link is valid for 48 hours.
- If you didn’t receive the email:
- Check your Spam or Junk folder.
- Go back to the registration page and click “Resend email”.
- If you entered the wrong email by mistake, click "Fix it" to update it.
Step 3: Request Posting Rights (Background Check Required)
Before you can publish a service listing, you must complete a Criminal Background Check and receive approval from the FixitTask team.
Follow these steps:
- Click your profile icon (top right) and select “Your listings”.
- On the page that says “You haven't listed any listings.”, click “Post a new listing”.
- You will see a message:
- “You don't have posting rights”
- Click the red button: “Criminal Background Check”
- You will be redirected to a page with instructions. Here's what to do:
- Go to TritonCanada.ca and complete your background check.
- After completing it, send your verification to: hr@fixittask.com
- The FixitTask team will review your verification.
- Approval typically takes up to 24 hours.
- Once your background check is approved, your account will be activated for posting.
- You will then be able to create and publish your service listings.
Step 4: Create Your First Listing
Once your account is approved and you have posting rights, follow these steps to create your first service listing:
- Go to the “Your listings” section:
- Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner and select “Your listings” from the menu.
- If you haven't created any listings yet, you will see the message:
- "You haven't listed any listings."
- Click on the red text link “Post a new listing” underneath the message.
- You will be taken to the Listing details form.
Step 5 Filling Out “Listing Details”
After clicking “Post a new listing,” you’ll be taken to the Details section. Here's how to fill it out correctly:
- Category. Select the most appropriate category for your service from the dropdown.
Examples:
- Furniture Assembly & Installation
- Wall & Ceiling Mounting
- Moving & Heavy Lifting
- Cleaning Services
- Outdoor & Garden Services
- Home Repairs & Maintenance
- Painting & Finishing
- Smart Home & Electronics Setup
- Renovation & Construction
- Listing Title. Enter a short, clear title that describes your service.
Examples:- “Professional House Cleaning”
- “TV Mounting & Installation”
- “2 Movers + Truck – Fast and Reliable”
- “Interior Wall Painting Services” Keep it short but descriptive — it’s the first thing clients see.
- Listing Description.
Write a detailed explanation of what you offer. You can include:- What’s included in your service
- Any tools or supplies you provide
- Your experience or certifications
- Areas you specialize in
- Languages you speak (optional)
Example: “I offer professional post-renovation cleaning with all equipment provided. I have 3+ years of experience and specialize in deep cleaning for apartments, houses, and commercial spaces.”
- Cleaning Options (Only shown if you selected “Cleaning Services”)
Check the boxes that apply to the type of cleaning you offer:- General home and office cleaning
- Post-renovation and move-out cleaning
- Garage and storage unit cleaning
- Rental property and Airbnb cleaning
- Specialized cleaning for commercial spaces You can select one or multiple options.
- Pre-booking Messaging
Choose whether you want to receive messages before a booking is made:- Yes – clients can ask questions first
- No – clients can book directly without messaging ✅ Choosing “Yes” is good if you need to confirm job details before accepting.
- Service Area (in kilometers)
Enter how far you're willing to travel from your location to provide service.- Entering “25” means you'll accept jobs within a 25 km radius.
- Time you need to rest or prepare before your next booking (in hours)
Enter how many hours you need between bookings to rest or get ready.
Example:- Enter 1 if you need at least a 1-hour break between jobs.
- Minimum notice period needed before a booking can be placed (in hours)
Set how many hours in advance a client must book you — this countdown starts immediately, regardless of business hours.
Example:- Enter 12 if you want to block last-minute bookings made less than 12 hours ahead, even at night or on weekends.
⚠️ For example: if a client tries to book you at 2:00 AM for 9:00 AM the same day, the system will not allow it because only 7 hours remain — not 12.
- Minimum number of hours you must be booked for
Set the minimum booking duration.
Example:- Enter 2 if you only accept jobs that are at least 2 hours long.
- Distance-based travel fee (price per kilometer)
Enter how much you charge for travel per kilometer from your base location.
Example:- Enter 1 if you charge $1 per kilometer
- Enter 0 or leave blank if you don’t charge for distance
Once you complete all fields, click the “Next” button to continue to the next section: Location.
Step 6: Enter Your Location
After completing the Listing Details, you’ll be asked to provide your location. This is used to:
- Show your listing to nearby clients
- Calculate distance-based travel fees (if you charge per kilometer) Here’s how to fill it out:
- Address
Enter your full street address.- 2920 Highway 7 Road
This address will not be publicly shown, but it's required for distance calculations and internal use.
- Apt, Suite, Building # (optional)
If you live in an apartment or condo, you can enter the unit number here.- Unit 304 or Suite A42
Once both fields are filled (or at least the main street address), the “Next” button will become active.
Click Next to move on to the Pricing section.
